Hikvision & HiLook

Hikvision cameras — and HiLook cameras, which share the same firmware — support FTP upload on most models including the DS-2CD and DS-2DE series.

Set up FTP on your camera

In the web interface, go to Configuration → Network → Advanced Settings → FTP. In iVMS-4200, go to Remote configuration → Network → Advanced → FTP. Set the parent directory to the name you want the camera to appear as in Lunetta.

Hikvision doesn’t publish a single FTP setup guide — refer to your camera’s user manual, available from the Hikvision download center.

Folder name

Hikvision uses a two-level directory structure: parent directory and child directory. Set the parent directory to your camera name (e.g. front-door). Leave the child directory blank or use a date-based pattern — Lunetta reads the timestamp from the filename, not the folder path.

Filename format

Hikvision uploads files named like:

10.0.0.5_01_20260604143022.mp4
10.0.0.5_01_20260604143022.jpg

The filename includes the camera’s IP address, channel number, and timestamp (YYYYMMDDHHMMSS). Lunetta extracts the timestamp from this pattern.

Notes

  • HiLook cameras use identical firmware — all of the above applies.
  • For Hikvision NVRs, configure a separate subfolder per channel so each camera gets its own tab in Lunetta.
  • Make sure your camera’s clock and timezone are set correctly. Hikvision encodes local time in the filename.
