After installation you’ll be taken to the recovery codes page. Save those codes before doing anything else.

Save your recovery codes

Recovery codes are the only way to get back into your account if you forget your password. You get 10 codes — each one can be used once.

Download or write them down now. You won’t see them again in full. If you lose access to your account and your codes, there is no email-based reset — you’ll need direct access to the server.

The dashboard

The dashboard shows all footage indexed by Lunetta, grouped by date with the newest events at the top. If the footage folder already had files in it at install time, they’ll be visible immediately.

If the folder is empty, the dashboard will show an empty state until your camera uploads its first recording.

Check the footage path

Go to Settings → General and confirm the footage path is correct. This is the absolute path to the folder your camera uploads to. If it’s wrong, no footage will appear.

Set up automatic scanning

New footage is picked up by a scan. There are two ways to trigger scans automatically:

1. Lunetta Ping — enabled during installation. Lunetta.io pings your server every minute. No cron job needed.
2. Server cron job — runs cron.php every minute. Suitable if your server isn’t publicly accessible.

You can also trigger a scan manually from the dashboard using the Scan now button.

Invite other users

Go to Users to invite team members. Each user gets a link to set their own password. You can assign the viewer role (browse only) or admin role (full access including settings and delete).

Set up Telegram notifications

Go to Settings → Telegram to connect a Telegram bot. You’ll receive a photo or video notification the moment new footage is detected. See Telegram notifications for setup instructions.
